Enlighten announced today that “The Art of Window Dressing,” a consumer iPad application developed by Enlighten for Hunter Douglas, has been named Best Consumer Goods Mobile Application and Best Design Mobile Application in the first international MobileWebAward competition. Run by the Web Marketing Association, the competition honors “the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective mobile Web sites and mobile apps on the Internet.”
“The Art of Window Dressing” streamlines the extremely personal process of selecting and customizing Hunter Douglas’s premium, high-consideration window fashion products by allowing consumers to explore over 50 products and 5,000 color and fabric options in a digital product gallery. Additionally, it affords users the ability to customize the products to their own home and create a realistic visual of how they would look once installed. Consumers can upload a photograph of their room to the app – or take one on the spot using their iPad – and overlay products onto an image of the actual windows in their home. The final product can be shared online, e-mailed and sent directly to a Hunter Douglas dealer who can facilitate the design look of their dreams.
“The Art of Window Dressing” app was launched in iTunes earlier this year and can be downloaded free of charge.

To determine the winning entries, MobileWebAward judges considered seven criteria: Creativity, Impact, Design, Content, Interactivity, Ease of use and Use of the medium. The Hunter Douglas “The Art of Window Dressing” iPad app took top honors in the Consumer Goods category of the competition, in addition to being named Best Design Mobile Application.
